Socialized Medicine, Not Something We Should Want To Afford

Lots of talk from candidates with plans for universal health coverage. Let me just state something that should be obvious... health care is not a right, health care is a service provided by very smart, highly trained individuals. I do not want to live in a country where health care is cheap. I do not want to live in a country where it is easy to get into med school, where stupid people who do not work hard can become doctors, where exceptional skill and dedication are not rewarded with large salaries.

Cheap Health care = Bad Health care

The best way to lessen the cost of health care, let the marketplace work. Seems to work for computers, TVs, DVDs and most everything else. Get the government out of health care. Get rid of insurance that pays for every scrap and scrape. Buy major medical, take care of yourself and be an educated consumer.

If you think health care should be a right, feel free to go through the hassle of becoming a qualified doctor and then open a clinic that does not charge for your services. Nothing stopping you from doing it now is there.

As I see it...if a thing has no cost, how do you allocate its use?

Look at light rail in Portland. Are there any benefits to it? Sure. Why not. Some people use it.

But is it cost effective? Governments don't make money. They take it. So as long as the money is free, sure, it's cost effective. But compared to what? Something you pay full price for to use?

Lefties don't care. They're building us an utopia. God bless them. And if you happen to think that light rail is a fiasco...well, you're probably also a denier of Global Warming! And you probably want people on welfare to work! And you probably support the "idea" that democracy is worth fighting for in Iraq! Don't you know that it's wrong to impose our beliefs on other people? Well...unless it comes to light rail and health care.

And then, it's okay. Are you retarded or something?
