Maybe Not The Cleverest Excuse

WENATCHEE -- A 29-year-old Wenatchee man told police a pterodactyl caused him to drive his car into a light pole about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Wenatchee police cited the man with first-degree negligent driving. A breathalyzer test showed "a minimal amount of alcohol," said Wenatchee police Sgt. Cherie Smith.

The only surprises, "minimal amount" and Wenatchee instead of Pullman.

Have you ever seen a Great Blue Heron up close while it's flying?? Have had a couple close calls with them early in the morning fog, while cycling, when one flew out of a ditch adjacent to the road, and I had to do a reality check, like man, did I just go back one-million years in time?? They are *big*, like four foot wingspan extended. Grey bony wings, long viscious looking beak. This was in South King County (Seattle) which has several nesting areas...
