Ya got to hand it to the Seattle City Council.... they openly state that they should appoint a "woman of color" to the vacancy left be Jim Compton, they then weed down the 98 candidates to the top 6 applicants, 5 of which are women of color and 1 white lesbian... and then choose whitey. I can not wait to hear the reaction from the "communities of color".

Just do not pay any attention to the law that states its illegal to discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting... cause after all, this is Seattle.

So here is my question... 98 candidates in a city that is 70 percent white and not one male and not one heterosexual white female makes the top 6. Einstein couldn't figure those odds. What was that Andrew came home from school saying the other day... "will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character".

Yea right.

I've read a theory that liberals (including the Seattle City Council) unwittingly divide the world into victims and oppressors. With few exceptions, victims can do no wrong, and oppressors can do nothing right. It follows that victims cannot be racist or sexist, and helping a member of the victim class cannot be a racist or sexist act. Therefore, they feel no outrage for this selection process, since only members of the victim class are benefitting (even though members of the oppressor class, like me, view this as a form of racism and sexism).
